"I really enjoyed the Men’s Silent Retreat weekend at the St. Joseph Retreat & Conference Center. The Center and campus are so conducive to entering into the silence and praying with scripture guided by Fr. Huemmer. In addition to our spiritual needs, the Center’s accommodations and catered meals took great care of us physically as well!" Deacon Chris Bock, St. Louis de Montfort Parish
“Best retreat I’ve ever attended.” Arlene Bowyer, Women's Silent Retreat
"I have been very thankful for these opportunities this fall. I have been burning the candle hard personally and professionally and having the beautiful campus to explore - pray - meditate - mass - quiet time - etc. have been blessings!" Stephanie DiBlasio, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel, Carmel
The Saint Joseph Retreat & Conference Center went above and beyond in making us feel at home while on our silent retreat. The food, the amenities, and especially the leadership from Father Huemmer all made for a fruitful and peaceful time with the Lord. Even though we didn't speak for two days, or get closer than 6 feet, I felt myself to be in touch with my sisters in Christ. Erica Faunce, St. John the Baptist, Fort Wayne
“Fr. Huemmer is great and always insightful.” Lisa Hemmerling, Advent Day of Reflection
"I regularly attend the Get Away for a Day and was very happy when the retreat center was able to open back up in July. The retreat days allow me to leave behind my list of things to get done and enjoy just spending time in prayer without feeling rushed to get to the next task. It's been easy to accommodate the COVID precautions, as the retreat center has a well thought out and communicated plan that doesn't disrupt the serenity of the day." Diane Kincaid, St. Patrick, Kokomo
In the craziness that has set 2020 apart due to Covid, a day away at St. Joseph’s was the perfect place to replenish my soul. Everything was very carefully orchestrated to be safe for all of us, with plenty of attention to sanitizing, spacing, and mask wearing. It provided the perfect environment to pray and reflect during a very challenging time. Deb Krupowicz, St. Maria Goretti, Westfield
There are four things, among many others, that I particularly appreciate about the 2020 Men's Silent Retreat. First, the retreat—the reflections, scripture, environment, and retreat master—fosters solitude and reflection as well as any other retreat I have made. Second, I am grateful for the availability of the sacraments of the Eucharist and Reconciliation. Third, I am inspired by Fr. Huemmer's humility and passion. And lastly, I value the time of spiritual direction. For while solitude and prayer are essential and comprise the bulk of the retreat, it is good to bring these before someone who can help me hear what the Lord is saying. Kevin Luksus, St. Francis of Assisi, Muncie
The environment at St. Joe’s is perfect for a day of peace and reflection. The grounds are welcoming and having Mass on-site really caps it off. Very pleasant. Steve Penny
Saint Joseph Retreat & Conference Center offers many "quiet spaces", both inside the facility as well as outside on the 40 plus acres of ground that surround the facility, for one to pause and reflect on their own personal encounter with Jesus Christ. This site really is a 'gem' of a religious resource for our diocese - centrally located and easily accessible, beautifully maintained, and reasonably priced. It offers facility that one should definitely NOT overlook when needing or seeking a brief get-away, to spend some time with our Lord. Deacon Joe Poremski, Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, Lafayette
“This retreat was exactly what I needed. I have been on other silent retreats, but this is the first one that emphasized my interior life with God.” Steven Walter, Men’s Silent Retreat
I went on the three-day women's silent retreat in November 2020. Because I wasn't sure what to expect, I brought my Bible, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, and several books on faith. What I brought back was a renewed sense of focus on prayer and a deeper appreciation for the Lord's love for me. The setting allows an encounter with the living God through the Sacraments, time in prayer, and space to enjoy God's grace in creation. Fr. Huemmer included Liturgy of the Hours, Mass, Reconciliation, Eucharistic Adoration, and Ignatian prayer in the experience. I was able to dive into the silence and absorb the beautiful words of Sacred Scripture during Holy Hours. While in Adoration, I had a very real encounter of colloquy with the Lord, conversing with open trust about the things on my heart. It is a privilege to have a peaceful place to rest and rejuvenate in the Saint Joseph Retreat & Conference Center. Terie Thompson, St. Alphonsus, Zionsville.
“The retreat was an amazing experience. I truly encountered Christ and would recommend this to anyone trying to connect with Him.” Tamera L Vandegriff, MD, Women's Silent Retreat
