This psalm is the introduction of the group of psalms known as the “Egyptian Hallel” (Psalms 113-118). They are psalms that praise the liberation from Pharaoh’s slavery and the joy of Israel to serve the Lord freely in the Promised Land. These psalms were intentionally part of the Passover. Psalm 113 is filled with sentiments of trust, praise, and joy.
