Day Two: Psalm 114 

This short psalm covers a broad history of Israel’s journey from the Exodus to the crossing of the Jordan River to the Promised Land.  Therefore, it fits perfectly into the Passover celebration.  Its lively imagery brings about a sense of joy while still drawing those singing and praying it into the great event of the journey from slavery to freedom.  A key point, though, is made at the beginning that relates how God has chosen to dwell with this people and the powerful effects of His presence produces on the natural world. As this psalm was sung at the Last Supper, as Jesus prepared for His own Passover journey, it must have given Him courage and strength too.
